‘Electricityscapes’ is the new body of work by Francis McCrory which examines the electrifying energy of cityscapes; – the atmosphere, the buzz of pedestrians, transport and the essential energy that makes a city breath. Capturing the effect Light has on the objects and structures it illuminates around us.
The paintings depict grand skies, pylons, illuminated signs, pedestrians, traffic lights, making use of how the colours within can be reflected, manipulated and distorted. Scenes that may often characterise simplicity, ordinariness, even emptiness are transformed on canvas into something more vibrant and optically engaging.
The exhibition opens on Thursday 29th March (7-9pm) in Gormleys Fine Art, Lisburn Road, Belfast. The show continues until 12th April.
